Grab Your Shorts: New YouTube Editing Tools

As we've mentioned in previous reports, video shorts on YouTube are a hot commodity, viewed by 2 billion logged-in users monthly. That's a lot of eyeballs on your video.


Now, YouTube makes it easy to tweak your video layouts when you turn your longer videos into YouTube Shorts to please the masses (and your brand's bottom line).

This new feature is compatible with all Remix tools, but hold on. Before everybody gets excited, you should know that this beautiful set of editing tools is only available for iOS, with plans to roll it out for Android soon.

It's easy to access and dig into these fun tools. Find a long video you want to turn into a Short, hit that Remix option, and then choose "Edit Into a Short."

Trim it to select the part of your video you want to use (with us so far?). Now, all you need to do is tap on the layout option, then go crazy. Pinch and drag, zoom, and remix until you're satisfied with how it looks, then save the results.

You can then upload your Short to the platform and take advantage of the popularity of Shorts to get your message across.

Brands, of course, get more content to attach their products to.

This doesn't mean long-form is going away. Some material begs to be dragged on. Still, most of us just want to get in and get it done. YouTube's new editing tools will make it easier to create great Shorts going forward and help you give your long-form content new life.
