For the second time in a row, we're bringing you news about Instagram updates—because the platform just won't stop tweaking its features. Instagram is stepping up its direct messaging game with a fresh batch of updates, making it clear that DMs are now the heart of the platform.

Just last month, Instagram chief Adam Mosseri confirmed that the app is going all-in on messaging in 2025. And they're wasting no time, rolling out their first big set of DM-focused features for the year. So, what's new?

First up, Instagram is making it easier to chat across languages by adding in-stream DM translations. Whether you're sliding into someone's DMs in Spanish, French, or one of 99 supported languages, Meta's improved translation tech has got your back. This could be a game-changer for global friendships and businesses looking to expand their reach.

Another handy update: scheduled DMs. You can now plan messages up to 29 days in advance. While it's hard to picture regular users setting up delayed messages (reminder to text your crush in exactly two weeks, maybe?), businesses could use this feature to time promotions and customer interactions perfectly.

Instagram is also giving users the ability to pin up to three messages in a chat. Whether it's an important conversation, a meeting link, or just that one meme that cracks you up every time, pinning makes it easier to find.

And if you're into sharing music, Instagram has you covered. A new music-sharing sticker in DMs lets you send your favorite tracks effortlessly. It's another step in Instagram's growing interest in music, possibly preparing for a future where TikTok's music dominance isn't guaranteed.

Lastly, inviting people to group chats just got simpler with dedicated QR codes. Now, instead of manually adding friends, you can just send them a quick scan link.

While none of these updates are massive updates, they do reinforce Instagram's mission to make DMs the core of user interaction.
