After nearly a month in digital exile, TikTok is back on the App Store and Google Play in the US. Apple and Google had pulled the app in January to comply with a law banning software from its parent company, ByteDance. Even though President Donald Trump signed an executive order on January 20th instructing the Department of Justice not to enforce the ban for 75 days, both tech giants held off, unwilling to risk massive fines.

The green light came after US Attorney General Pam Bondi sent a letter to Apple, assuring the company it wouldn't face penalties for reinstating TikTok. Bloomberg first broke the news, revealing that the app was on its way back to American smartphones. Meanwhile, Trump has reportedly tasked Vice President JD Vance with overseeing negotiations for a potential sale of TikTok, keeping the app's fate hanging in the balance.

For TikTok users, this means a sigh of relief—at least for now. While the app is once again available for download, its long-term status in the US remains uncertain. The possibility of a forced sale or further legal battles still looms, making it unclear whether TikTok's return is a victory or just a temporary pardon.
