Wait, so now AI is going into business for itself? It sounds a lot like that.

OpenAI is open for business with the launch of the GPT store, now ready for the public. The store gives ChatGPT Plus, Enterprise, and Team users access to a massive marketplace with customizable chatbots.

The store will be familiar to users, allowing them to search for new apps like you would in any app store platform, with some of the more popular selections featured.

The store will offer a range of GPTs developed by OpenAI partners and the community. Users can check out popular and trending GPTs on the community leaderboard, delving into categories like DALL·E, writing, programming, research, education, and lifestyle.

Some of the cool things currently available include AllTrails, which delivers personalized trail recommendations for those who like to walk, and Consensus, an AI assistant that lets you search and synthesize over 200M academic papers. You can also learn to code with Khan Academy's Code Tutor, design anything with Canva, and learn more about math and science with the CK-12 Flexi AI tutor. Heck, you can even let AI pick books it thinks you should be reading.

Even more exciting for some users is the ability to build and include your own GPTs in the store, with a revenue-sharing program that will put some cold, hard cash in your pocket. The details are a little sketchy right now, but according to OpenAI, "US builders will be paid based on user engagement with their GPTs." The company promises to get more specific about payment later.

Keep in mind, the GPT builder revenue program isn't set to launch until Q1.

Of course, every AI update brings concerns about potential security risks and OpenAI becoming a gatekeeper in the marketplace, so there will likely be some challenges ahead.

On a side note, the wonderful team at ChatGPT Team has launched a new subscription tier for small groups that delivers premium features, including the new store.

So, bottom line here, if you're a ChatGPT fan, this new OpenAI store might be your playground.
